【FCE 备考】FCE 必备短语:used to/should have/needn't have | 技巧

"I used to play piano when I was ten." — 你写对了,阅卷老师点头;
"She should have told me earlier." — 语法精准,B2 级逻辑跃然纸上;
"You needn't have waited — I arrived on time!" — 这一句,直接拉开与 A2/B1 考生的差距。

但考场真实一幕是:一位 FCE 考生在 Writing Part 1(邮件)中写道:I should have known that before ✅,下一行却写:I needn't to wait ❌——瞬间扣掉语法分。

短语不是"背下来就行",而是"用对语境、用准时态、用活情态"。今天,我们彻底拆解 FCE 三大高频易错短语:used to / should have / needn't have

used to:过去习惯 ≠ 一般过去时

used to:专指"过去长期、重复、现已终止的习惯或状态"

I used to live in Shanghai — 强调"现在不住了";
He used to smoke, but he quit in 2020 — 习惯 + 明确终止;
I used to go to the park last weekend — 错!last weekend 是单次具体时间,用一般过去时:I went to the park last weekend

I used to watch a movie yesterday — 错!yesterday 是单次过去时间

I watched a movie yesterday — 一般过去时,描述单次动作

should have:后悔的"本该"

should have + 过去分词:表达对过去事实的责备、遗憾或合理推测

You should have checked the weather forecast — 暗示"结果淋雨了";
She shouldn't have said that in front of her boss — 含道德/社交判断;
⚠️ 注意:不表示"实际发生",只表达主观评价。

I should have went to bed early — 错!went 是过去式,应该用过去分词 gone

I should have gone to bed early — should have + 过去分词

needn't have:做了不必做的事

needn't have + 过去分词:强调"某事已做,但事后证明没必要"

You needn't have bought so many snacks — we ordered pizza! — 已买,但多余;
He needn't have worried; everything went smoothly — 已担心,实则无须;
She needn't have studied hard because she passed — 不严谨!passing ≠ proof of no need → 更自然:She needn't have studied so hard; she passed easily

You needn't to wait — 错!needn't 后直接加动词原形,或者用 needn't have done

You needn't wait — 现在不必等
You needn't have waited — 当时不必等(但等了)
